  1. DEPARTMENTAL INFORMATION

A.1 Mission Statement

Assist the government of Cameroon to resolve the problem of the shortage of teachers in Government Technical Colleges and Government Technical High Schools in options of Electronics, Electrotechnics and Air Conditioning and Refrigeration.

To meet this mission training is organized in two cycles and successful completion leads to the award of a DIPET I or a DIPET II.

A.2 Profile of Students

Candidates vying for admission into the first year of the first cycle must have either the Bacaulaureat or Technical G.C.E. AL of the relevant discipline or the G.C. E. AL of the relevant Sciences series. Candidates seeking admission into the third year of the first cycle must have either of the following diplomas namely: HND, BTS or DUT. Candidates looking for admission into the second cycle must have a first degree or the DIPET I of the relevant option. Civil servants seeking admission into the first and second cycles must obtain authorization from the competent ministry. Candidates sponsored by organizations must also provide evidence of an engagement for employment on successful completion of the training program.

The training programs are designed with professional, core and complementary courses. This design ensures that the students after going through the program will acquire the skills that will enable them to teach subjects of their relevant option.

A.3 Objective of Training Program

To train bilingual teachers for Government Technical Colleges and Government Technical High Schools in the options of Electronics, Electrotechnics and Air Conditioning and Refrigeration.

A.4 Language of Instruction

The language of instruction is English in conformity with the Anglo-Saxon status of the University of Bamenda. Candidates whose first language is not English are therefore encouraged to undergo an English proficiency course before seeking admission.
