Topography

I.1. MISSION STATEMENT OF THE DEPARTMENT

Teaching in Civil Engineering, option-Topography, aims at training teachers of civil engineering surveying with the skills required to meet the challenges of modern construction and to meet the needs of the construction industry and public works. Students will learn the fundamental principles of surveying, Topographical drawing and land law.

They are expected to take on a variety of issues such as teaching in the areas of geodesy, photogrametry, cartography and surveying for construction. Hence, it allows students to develop their knowledge, skills, expertise in the above areas.

  1. 2. OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME

At the end of the training

In terms of knowledge, the program allows students to acquire the skills required for the practice of the surveying profession. The students should be able to carry out topographical and As-built surveys, monitor construction processes and the deformation and settlement of structures.

 

In terms of know-how, the future teacher will be able:

  • To teach in schools and colleges of technical education;
  • To apply surveying in the construction of Civil Engineering structures;
  • To carry out Land survey of estates;
  • To Coordinate and manage a project.

I.3   PROFILE OF STUDENTS

I.3.1. DIPET 1

Access Level 100

To be admitted into the first-year undergraduates (DIPET 1) for the Topography option, candidates must have one of the following qualifications: Baccalauréat C,D,E or GCE A/L in at least two of the following papers (Pure Maths, Further Maths , Applied Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Computer Studies). Baccalauréat Technique F4, BT-TOPO. GCE A/L Technical in Building Construction.

Foreign degree or diploma giving access to higher education in the country of issue. Holders of foreign certificates should produce an equivalence from the Ministry of Higher Education.

 

Access to Level 200

To be promoted to level 200, the student must have completed 70% of the teaching units or 3/4 of the teaching units allocated to the lower level.

 

 

Access to Level 300

To be promoted to level 300, candidates must have completed all course units of level 100 and also completed 70% of the teaching units of level 200.

Holders of HND or BTS of the specialty in concordance with the option may be admitted to level 300 based on the examination of documents.

The language of instruction is English.
